NWO Masterclass VIDI call 2023 – Trainer: Aya van den Kroonenberg

Obtaining a VIDI-grant from NWO is an important milestone in the research career of (young) scientists in the Netherlands. The Talent Scheme is highly competitive with average success rates between 10% and 25% depending on year and science division.

In this training we distinguish between the quality of the project and the quality of the written proposal text. Both have to be excellent to be successful.
We will address the typical characteristics of a VIDI application considering the different NWO domains and incorporating recent developments including signature of the DORA agreement by NWO and the latest development regarding the introduction of pre-proposals for VIDI applicants. In addition, focus will be on evaluation criteria for the PI, the research project and impact including their interrelationship and in combination with the proposal template.

This workshop is directed towards talented researchers who consider submitting an NWO VIDI pre-proposal for the next deadline in November 2023 and possibly a full proposal in March 2024. Participants will receive strategic and practical input for developing a competitive VIDI project and writing a convincing (pre-)proposal thereby increasing their chances to receive this prestigious grant.
